Here's an excerpt from the newsletter of one of my congressmen.
So did the president's tax relief plan consist of those few hundred dollars we all got, or am I missing something? Please tell me my congressman isn't thinking we all rushed out to buy homes because of that huge windfall.
Despite the [Democratically held] Senate's general inaction, we can already see a difference in our economy today, when comapared to a few months ago. However, as has historically been the case, Wisconsin is at the tail end of this recovery partially because of its large manufacturing labor force. But there are positive signs, such as January's record home sales in the Midwest, which indicates strong consumer confidence. This upswing in our economy can ge largely attributed to the President's tax relief pan, passed last summer.
So did the president's tax relief plan consist of those few hundred dollars we all got, or am I missing something? Please tell me my congressman isn't thinking we all rushed out to buy homes because of that huge windfall.

i think the tax law requires a serious revamping....as far as i'm concerned, if there's going to be a personal income tax, there should be a flat tax with NO deductions.........you make a buck, you take your dime or quarter or whatever, and send it to uncle sam.....if you have a big house with a big loan, that's your problem.....because the house interest deduction should be scrapped.....it shouldn't matter whether you have one person in the family or 20, the tax should be the same........now, the people at H&R Block might not like this, but any American will be able to do there own personal tax return on half a sheet of paper......
