I bought some new releases recently.
U2, PJ Harvey and Radiohead. I haven't been buying much music for the last year or so. That's partly because I don't hear any new stuff here in the radio wasteland that is Milwaukee.
U2's All That You Can't Leave Behind is very good. It is quality music, but there isn't really very much that stands out. It's like Pop was an experimental record, and their experiments proved that this is the best they can do. I prefer the wilder, more "different" stuff.
I feel the same way about Polly Jean's Stories form the City, Stories from the sea, but I like it better. It is still more settled in than Is This Desire?
Radiohead's Kid A is great (though not as great as The Bends). I can't believe it has sold as well as it has. How did that happen?! (Did you find the secret booklet?)
And I picked up Blue Bell Knoll by the Cocteau Twins, after a couple of months of promising myself I would look into their stuff. Very Nice.
