I made it through Christmas. I always dread it.

I have a problem with this whole gift-giving thing. You’re supposed to give presents to your loved ones to show how much you care about them, right? Well, I can never figure out what to give them. What does that say? Apparently it says that I don’t love my family or friends enough to even know what they’d like to receive as a gift. So what do we do? We all give each other lists of what we want. Ooh, there you go. Let’s just go through the motions. You get me this, I’ll get you that. Love ya!

I was complaining to my mom that I had no clue what to get for my sister. She told me that she had asked for a CD player for the kitchen. Like that was supposed to make me feel better about it. "Here you go Andrea, I love you so much, I’ll give you anything you ask for."

I did okay this year, though. I got my mom the keyboard. She really didn’t expect it. I brought in this huge box, wrapped in brown paper and masking tape. She was surprised to find out that it was for her. Then she was surprised to find out what it was. She wondered how I knew she wanted one. She had talked about it last summer, before her birthday.

I got a bread maker for Dad and Debbie. I wasn’t sure they’d like it, but I didn’t really have any other ideas. I asked Debbie if she had any ideas for me, for my dad, but she didn’t. My mom was the one who suggested the bread maker, so it wasn’t really my idea, but I’ll take what credit I can get. They seemed to like it.

All in all, this X-mas was relatively painless.
