My mom, my sister and her two kids came over this afternoon. We sat in the family room and talked for a while. Then we finished dinner preparations and served it. My sister and her daughter were across the table from each other, and I happened to look up while my mom was saying grace. They were trying to keep from laughing, and failing. I tried not to pay attention, but soon my nephew was laughing too, quietly. So then I couldn't keep it in anymore, and interrupted grace. In our defense, Mom was going on way too long. ;-)
Dinner was the usual ham, potatoes, rolls, salad, fruit salad and carrots, with a cheesecakey pie for dessert. After dinner, the conversation died down. I guess it didn't take us long to cover all the topics. The nephew (20) must have been really bored - he hardly spoke the whole time. Niece covered most of the topics - she always has something to say.
In other news, we saw a great horned owl in the yard tonight. I saw something move, and it landed on a branch, silhouetted against the twilight.
