I decided to bake bacon bourbon chocolate chip cookies. My dad and another guy are coming over for whisky tomorrow night, plus we have a thing on Friday night, which I really should take snacks to.
I didn't even start until 7:30, which is when I left for the grocery store. I finished baking at 10 pm. First I had to cook the bacon I baked it in the oven). Then, while the bacon grease was cooling, I started mixing some of the dry ingredients. And cleaning up. The whole process went rather slowly, which was good since I wasn't rushing, and could take my time. But getting done late means too much foodstuff closer to bedtime. You know, bacon, chocolate chips, cookie dough, bourbon, cookies.
The first time I made bacon chocolate chip cookies, I used bacon grease. They weren't great. The second time, I found recipe which called for candied bacon. This time, it was just shredded bacon, but also the grease in place of some of the butter. I'm surprised there isn't more bacon flavor. I could taste a hint of bourbon in the dough, but not in the cookies.
In other news, we're supposed to get storms tomorrow. Thunderstorms from 3pm to 3 am. It looks like the same storm that dumped tornadoes over half the country last week. That storm system just barely edged over the state line. If it does the same, we could be OK. If it goes farther north, we could have some problems, and the guys won't be able to come over.
