Christmas cookies
Dec. 22nd, 2021 10:53 pmEvery year my mom bakes many batches of cookies and candies. She puts plates together and delivers them to her friends. Many of them change from year to year, but she has a few stalwarts that she always makes. My favorites are the (chocolate covered) peanut butter balls and the pecan crescents (crispy and melt-in-your-mouth). So last year I told her she only had to give me those. All the others, sugar cookies, peanut brittle, caramels, iced cookies, etc., are fine, but I wouldn't miss them. So I stopped by tonight to pick them up. She had my plate, half and half with the aforementioned treats. And she included a full plate for Cindy - so we got two plates! And then she gave me all the rest of the peanut butter balls and pecan crescents!
The other day she told me she burned her first batch of caramels, so I told her I'd take them. I don't usually eat the caramels - they taste good but they're just solid sugar - but I was interested to taste the "burnt" ones. So I got some slabs of that. What was it, a 10x14" baking pan? I will be eating very little of them!
I didn't realize she was giving us a full plate of all of the varieties, so while I was there I sampled all the kinds that I thought I wasn't getting. Too many cookies!
