masking

Once pretty much everyone had had a chance to be vaccinated, our office let us go unmasked if we were vaccinated. Before that, we were only allowed to take our masks off if we were alone behind closed doors, of while eating or drinking. In practice, I think most of us had our masks off in our cubicles. After they dropped those rules, I was still wearing my mask when away from my desk, but that only lasted a week. It was probably only another week before nobody was wearing a mask.

Since then, Wisconsin has had a jump in Covid cases. They started going up in August, and jumped again in September, but are down just a bit in October. We match the nationwide curve pretty closely, but maybe not as his this Fall. So last week they started requiring masks again. Rates are different in different places. I'm curious how many cases there have been in our building. I've only heard of one, back when there was a lot of fear, and they had to disinfect the place. I doubt if they're doing that now, so nobody needs to know if anyone has been sick? And privacy and all that. Anyway, I think this policy is nationwide, not just our building.

But this time, the mandate is to wear masks when away from your desk. I think that's fine. We have to wear masks sometimes, so that keeps Covid safety on our minds. I think a lot of people were getting a little too complacent.

But since the day they implemented the mandate, many people have gone back to working at home. I think that's a bit odd. How hard is it to wear that piece of cloth for the five minutes it takes to nuke your lunch, or to go to the restroom? People are so weird.

I think masks are a good thing. masks prevent a lot of movement of people's breath. Add good ventilation to dissipate the breath, and we should be in good shape.
