family reunion
Aug. 1st, 2021 11:49 pmWe had my mom's family reunion this weekend. It is usually in Indiana because a large contingent of the family doesn't want to travel. But enough of us (and the people who kinda run the show, think we should have it in different places every year. They decided that since my mom is one of two remaining members of her generation, that they should hold it near her.
Originally she was going to rent an area of the park, but since so few people want to travel, it was going to be a small group so my sister offered to have it at her place. So we just hung out in her back yard. It was just the right number of people for that, fifteen people. Mostly we sat around and talked, and played some cornhole.
My mom and sister did all the cooking, rather than making people bring food from far away.
The weather was perfect - upper 70's, light breeze, mostly shady.
The night before we went out to dinner with one couple who came to town early. Sunday morning we went out to breakfast with a few people.
Saturday was an odd day for eating. I often skip breakfast on weekends. I just had some yogurt before lunch. Then food at the reunion. I didn't have a big lunch, but I did have too much dessert. We left around what would have been dinner time, and stopped for a beer on the way home. I only had one, but it was a stout, so I didn't get hungry (and only a little hungry) until about 10:00 that night.
This morning after breakfast, I went downtown because our photo group was announcing the winners of the photo contest. Then I visited the art museum - first time since before the pandemic.
