Winter

It's finally winter. It's late January and we finally got snow. And the temperature was in the single digits. It might have gotten below zero once.

Unfortunately, I can't go out and shovel. We got a few inches overnight. Not a huge amount but enough that the forecasters were predicting the end of the world. I'm actually a little disappointed I can't shovel it because that's just about the only exercise I get during the winter.

My neighbor, knowing that I have a fairly large driveway and no snowblower, always brings his around to clear our driveway. This is much appreciated when there's a lot, or when I have trouble doing it (like now). But sometimes he does it when theres hardly enough to bother with. And now I think hes starting to feel obligated. He texted me to say that he wouldn't be over until around noon, after the snow would have stopped falling. Fortunately Cyn didn't have any trouble getting out of the driveway at 7:00.

So my mom... her landlord is supposed to take care of the snow (and mowing) but he doesn't do a good job of it. Hes not timely, and even when he does it, she has to go out and clean up after him. Sometimes she's got to shovel it all herself so she can get out and do whatever it is she's doing that day. I guess he thinks theres no rush because she's retired, but she's very busy. She's involved in her church, she delivers for meals on wheels and she has a part time job. Regardless of how active she is, she's 80 and she shouldn't have to be shoveling her driveway.
