frustrations
Jul. 4th, 2018 11:01 pmWe have this party coming up. It's a lot of work getting ready, and I've got some tasks planned to the day. Today, my plan was to mow the lawn. I mowed it last Thursday, so it would have to be mowed again before the party. It was to rain on Thursday, so Wednesday would be perfect. If I mow it too close to the day of the party, people track grass clipping into the house. I'd mow it three days in advance, and there would be rain in between.
Meanwhile, we had some tickets for Summerfest, so we decided to do that in the afternoon, and I'd mow in the evening. Summerfest is "the world's largest music festival." We walk around and listen to some bands, and do some people-watching. And we take our cameras. So we get down there, walk six blocks, it's hot as hell, but when we go through the gates, they tell us our camera lenses are too big. What?! No professional gear. So we have to walk back to the car and leave them there. Then back to the fest. Did I mention it was hot as hell. Our cameras are half the reason we go. >:-( Also, it was annoying that the guards in my line were going to let me through, but apparently Cyn got in line with the one guard that cared about this particular rule. I was tempted to try it again in a different line.
So we sweated through the Summerfest thing. Had a fine time. Walked up to Cafe Benelux for dinner, like we often do after the fest. We got home at 6:00. It was sunny. Half an hour later I was getting ready to go outside when Cyn said it looked like rain. There was no rain in the forecast for the day - last I looked. But it stormed. Lots of lightning, and the heavy rain lasted almost an hour, with light rain lasting longer. I guess the fireworks in town were delayed.
Since I couldn't complete today's task (the lawnmowing) I decided to do some pre-party shopping (the beer), forgetting that every place was closed for the holiday. That one always gets me.
