The weather was almost perfect tonight, as the sun was going down. Warm and calm, but humid. I sat on the patio and read a magazine.

It was noisy. The air conditioning unit was going nonstop, nearby, and a nearby dog was barking nonstop. Aggravating. The next-door neighbors' dogs are finally getting better about barking (partly through getting used to us, partly through training), but they never just stood and barked continuously for an hour at a time.

Aside from the noise, it was really nice out.

Cindy and I have been trying to walk the entire Ozaukee Interurban trail. This a bike trail the the county created on the bed of the old Interurban railway, that used to run from Sheboygan to Milwaukee, with stops in all the local towns. We hadn't walked any of it since last fall. I'd been meaning to get back to it, but never did. And now it's hot. Fortunately, our next segment was near the lake, so slightly cooler than inland.

So we parked in the lot of the motel, and walked down the road - this is a segment that doesn't follow the railroad bed. And then it turned and went under the freeway. Where we found a dead deer.

Then the trail turned at a T intersection, but didn't tell us which way to go. I didn't think the trail would double back the way it came from, even if it was on the other side of the freeway, so we turned north.

This place had a little sign in the grass that said, "Free cherrys. Help yourself." So Cyn did.

Not sure what was going on here, but the the topsoil was spread neatly around the otherwise empty field.

When I got back home, I checked the Google, and it showed that the trail did indeed double back on itself, since the road section was a detour around a long-missing bridge.
