So a while back, Les mentioned, on his facebook, about something weird from Dr Who, that I didn't get. Shortly thereafter, Cyn and I went to watch the next episode in our Dr Who DVD set. When I came back to facebook and saw Les's post again, I got it. He had referenced that very episode!

Today, we got Season 5 in the mail. I discovered that there are some crucial episodes missing from it, so I set out to find out why. In my readings on Wikipedia about goings on in the series in the last few years, I discovered the fact that David Tennant married a guest on the show, who happened to be the daughter of Peter Davison, a previous Doctor.

And then Les reposted an image that humorously illustrates this very fact... linky

kilts

While I was talking to a woman I knew, at the Highland Games, a woman came up to us and asked her what people wear under their kilts. So my friend (who was wearing a kilt) was talking to her about it, but being rather vague. I gave the woman an actual answer, but she didn't really seem to pay attention to me. I don't know whether she heard me or not, since she never really looked at me. Very odd. I was, like, are you really asking a woman with teenagers at home, if she goes commando?

My answer was a somewhat historical account... It was the old Highlanders, and men in the military who wore nothing underneath, and who, until recently, were required to wear nothing underneath (where the term "regimental" comes from). The rule was always that underwear was worn in polite company. "I'll leave it up to you to decide whether this is polite company." Also note that the athletes at the games are required to wear full coverage underneath.

After the person left, my friend told me how annoyed she is by that question. Or was it "angered"? The question itself doesn't bother me. What bothers me is the implication is that one shouldn't wear underwear. Yes, I do, and it annoys the hell out of me that people think I shouldn't. People who get a thrill out imagining all these nearly-exposed men running around? Or people who think it's "authentic." Or people who like to feel the breeze, or who just get a thrill because they think it feels naughty. I don't know, it's just aggravating.
