the weekend
Jul. 16th, 2012 12:02 amFriday night, I had a Scotch tasting. I got home from work just as Cyn left for an appointment, and then left for the tasting just before she got back home.
The tasting was good. The weather was perfect for sitting out in Doug's back yard. We had Tomatin 15, Glenmorangie Original, Balvenie Doublewood, Oban 14, Bunnahabhain 12, Highland Park 12, Bruichladdich PC7 and Bowmore 17. It started to rain just as I was leaving, so that was good. (We actually got some rain!) The attendees were mostly his neighbors, including an interesting couple. I couldn't place her accent, but it turned out she was French Canadian. They met and got married in Vancouver and had spent some time in Japan. He just wrote a book on Japanese beer, which should be out soon.
I got home after 1 am. Cindy was around for a while on saturday morning, and then she left for a party in Valparaiso. I left a little before noon for the Annual St. Andrew's Society picnic. It was good. My dad and stepmom always host it. They have a great house and yard. The weather was hot, but good otherwise. Food was good. Company was good. It was a laid back kind of thing. Probably about the same number of people we had for our party the week before, or maybe fewer. I was going to try to leave kind of early, but I didn't. Got home after 11:00.
This morning, I putzed around, checked out the garden, moved the fridge to the basement and the guys came over for gaming. Cindy came home during gaming and I talked to her for a few minutes.
I'm tired. I think I need to relax for a bit. I just noticed we have one even next saturday afternoon, and that's all that's on our calendar between now and the following weekend. That's good.
