Did a Scotch tasting at Doug's. Doug, his neighbor John, Doug's cousin Jordan, Brook, and Brook's friend Leon.

Leon and Jordan were newbies, and Jordan had trouble with the amount of hard liquor.

We had Glenlivet Nadurra (me), Balvenie Doublewood (Leon), Macallan 12 (Jordan), Macallan Cask Strength (John), Cardhu 12 yr (Doug), Scapa 14 yr (Brook) and Laphroaig Cairdeas, Ileach Edition (Brook). Brook brought the limited edition Laphroiag and also the Scapa, since we already had five Speysides. I usually like a sweet Speyside whisky, when it stands out because it's the only one, but this time, the Laphroaig stood out.

Doug was a friend of mine, and Brook was a coworker of Cyn's, but it turned out they knew some people in common (we learned last year that Brook knew the guy who married Doug's brother's wife's sister). Brook had a similar one degree of separation with John, since I-forget-who grew up in the same area of the south side.

I had friday off, so this is day 2 of my weekend. Yesterday, I only had two tasks. I would mow the lawn and post some Alaska photos. I did not mow the lawn, and I uploaded four photos to Flickr. Not exactly a successful day. I did cook supper, though. In the evening, I did the Scotch tasting.

Today, I decided to mow the lawn in the morning, before heading out to a group photowalk. I failed at clockmath or something, because when I came in from my hour-plus lawnmowing, it was a good half hour later than I expected, so I missed the Pabst "Brewery" tour part of the photowalk. No loss, as it turns out, after hearing from someone who did go on it. I got home from that and worked on pics for a while. Then Cyn came home from visiting her mother, and we went out to eat. We checked out Tello's a Mexican/Greek place in Port Washington, that we'd been meaning to try. I thought it was decent. And three hours later, I'm still full. Cyn brought half of hers home.

We wandered around the old Pabst Brewery Complex. The brewery closed in 1996, I think. In the early 2000's, there was a plan to redevelop it all, but that fell through. Half of it has been razed. The oldest, historic buildings were saved, and it's been sold off piecemeal. There are condos and a parking garage, but most of them are still abandoned. Above, is the bar and gift shop area.
