Brooklyn and Manahattan
May. 21st, 2010 10:42 pmWe took a trip to New York, to visit Mike. He moved to Brooklyn about a year ago, so we finally made reservations. After we got our bed & breakfast, he moved to Harlem, but we liked the place we got so we stayed there. It's a really nice are of Brooklyn, on Prospect Park.
On thursday night, after we arrived, since Mike had been working in the area, we met him and went for dinner at a nice Italian place, Bar Toto. It was a late meal, so I didn't sleep well, even after walking a lot of it off.
Today, after a late start from breakfast, we walked over to Green-Wood Cemetery. We only spent an hour there, and saw far too little of it, but we had to get going. We walked about four miles from the B&B to the cemetery, to the train station. We rode to Dumbo (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) to meet Mike for lunch. We saw the Manhattan Bridge from below, then walked across the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan.
While in the middle of the bridge, we got a call from penpusher, and made plans to meet tomorrow.
Once in Manhattan, we did a lot of walking and looking. We walked another eight miles there. We didn't stop do much, but we saw or went through or by... City Hall, African Burial Ground National Monument, Chinatown, The Flatiron Building, SOHO, NOHO, drinks at Heartland Brewery, Madison Square Garden, sat for a while on the Post Office Steps, tiny Jackson Park, pizza at Pasita, and then a train. I'm probably forgetting stuff.
Now I'm tired, and Cyn is asleep.
