Another fatal accident on the freeway near here. I figured that was the case, since I heard a helicopter hovering. Devonne called to alert me of it. These happen way too frequently. There was a string of fatal cross-over accidents - six in less than two years, so they finally put up a barrier fence. Based on the pictures on the news, I'd say this was another one. I wonder how the car got through the barrier.
Northbound traffic is diverted off the freeway, and southbound traffic has slowed to a crawl. Cyn will have a long ride home. Not as long as the people in the accident, though.
Edit: Wow, the accident happened shortly after 2:30. I didn't hear the chopper until after 3:00. The news footage from that time showed firefighters holding up a tarp to block the view from gawkers across the road. And also a flight-for-life helicopter sitting idle on the highway. The helicopters departed about 3:45 p.m. carrying at least one of the injured. That's a long time to be trapped in a car with critical injuries. More footage from sometime after 4:00 showed them still working behind the tarps. I hope that at this time they were only investigating, and not still trying to extricate injured people.
With the thousands of people who go through there every day, I never assume that I know any of the victims when I hear of an accident. But they mentioned "a silver car," so now my mind started going through all the people I know with silver cars.
And I still hear a chopper. I wonder what they're doing. It's dark out.
