gardening weekend
May. 21st, 2007 12:19 amBeen spending a lot of time outdoors lately. I turned the soil in the vegetable garden and raked it out. That took a couple of nights and a good chunk of an afternoon. That was a lot of work. Some of it had been taken over by grass. We went to the garden center and bought seeds and seedlings, but I didn't plant them yet. It turned cold on saturday night. I hope the plants are okay in the shed. Also bought and set out some petunias and a mum. Then I mowed the lawn. I did the trimming today. Also bought top soil and mulch. The mulch that I've got was here when we moved in, and is getting very weedy. I've got to rake it all up and replace it. Not sure what to do with it.
With all that work, I still didn't lose the weight I gained after my birthday dinner.
This afternoon we went to a symphony. Beethoven's something or other. A choral piece. Boring and very long. I generally don't care for choral works. One of my favorite parts of the symphony is the interplay between the instruments of the orchestra. You don't really get that with the chorus, or even pieces for soloists. The first of the other two shorter pieces was pretty boring too. The second was all right. It was for cello and violin soloists. The cellist was next season's principal.
Then tonight was Shadowrun night.
