A guy at work offered me a box of LPs that he had taking up space in his garage. I think he'd gotten them at a rummage sale several years ago, and finally decided he was never going to get a turntable. I figured I probably either had most of them or didn't want most of them, but I was surprised at how many we didn't have. A few of Alice Cooper and George Harrison, plus a few miscellaneous records, but most of them were one's I'd never even heard before. Upon closer look, I was disappointed to see how many of them were damaged - water, bugs, dirt. I threw two dozen away because they were water damaged or just in bad shape. There are a bunch more that I'll have to play to determine if they're worth keeping. I opened Thirds, by The James Gang, to see spiderwebs and dirt. But it turned out to be only a little scratchy and have a good, full sound.
Here's what I've kept so far:

James Gang - Thirds - good sound quality and good album
Ian Hunter - All-American Alien Boy - not bad
Jefferson Starship - Spitfire - decent
Heart - Magazine - decent
George Harrison - Extra Texture - decent
Elvis Costello - My Aim is True -
Elvis Costello - This Years Model - disappointed in the sound quality
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
Jefferson Starship - Red Octopus

Jethro Tull - M.U. - The Best of... - very scratchy
Jimi Hendrix - Hendrix in the West - scratchy and nothing much new
Rolling Stones - Made in the Shade - scratchy

Alice Cooper - Billion Dollar Babies
Alice Cooper - Greatest Hits
Alice Cooper - Welcome to my Nightmare
