fire, water and electricity
Jul. 1st, 2006 11:16 pmWe picked up my mom, and drove over to where the fireworks are, and I realized I'd forgotten what time they were supposed to start, so we were half an hour earlier than I'd expected, and we were getting there an hour ahead of time as it was. As we sat there, the clouds got a little darker, and lighting began to be seen in the north. Then the rain started. About that time, I guess they decided they'd better get the show underway, because the fireworks started half an hour early. Fortunately, with the clouds, it was reasonably dark. We could see lightning off to our left. It wasn't as enjoyable a show as the fireworks, but if it had been any spectacular, there probably would have been no fireworks.
The show only lasted about 20 minutes, so I think they cut it short because of the rain. It might have been accelerated, as well. But it was still a good show, and a nice night for sitting out on a lawn - even with the rain.
Earlier, we had the quintessential Fourth of July meal - burgers and corn on the grill. But the burgers were charred to a crisp. It's going to take me a bit to figure out this grill.
I spent the day doing yard work. Did a little mowing, dug weeds out of the garden, bought some new hoses, things like that. It was hot and windy.
