weekend in review
Oct. 19th, 2003 10:45 pmToday, we did the roof on Cyn's garage. Unfortunately, we only got half of it done. And it only took #-1/2 hours, so if we'd had another three, I think we'da got it. But we got up late, and still didn't get down to working until after lunch, and then had to go the store for nails. And then the nail gun jammed, wasting nearly half an hour. *sigh*
Last night we went out to see Willy Porter. He's great. The crowd wasn't exactly into it. We arrived a little late to sit up front, so we were stuck in the back with the loud drunk girls who didn't seem to care about the show much, except to pause their conversations long enough to yell things to the stage. Near the end, they sent one of ther drunk friends up to the front to request a song. They kept yelling to her, "TELL HIM!" I'm sure he could hear them better than he could hear her. But he said (in order to shut them up), "I'll play it, I promise." As the last song, he started to play it, got about half a minute into it, stopped and said, "I can't do this, this is a rock show." And went into another song, to finish. The drunk girls were stunned.
It was fun too, because we ended up talking with a couple that we were sitting near (who were equally bewildered as to why anyone would pay fifteen bucks ot see a show and then talk through it). I seldom talk with anyone at shows, but it turned out that they were prog rock fans, and we talked a little about King Crimson and the like. They tried to convince us to see Jean-luc Ponti on Monday.
In the afternoon, we went to Greg and Sue's wedding. Greg's one of my gaming buddies. It was a nice wedding - short and sweet. The reception was just dinner. Which was nice.
Friday night we stayed in, and spent some quality time together. Spaghetti for supper, with a carrot cake I had made the night before. Then margaritas while we watched Being John Malkovich which I really like.
