LJ trouble

So nobody else had any trouble with LiveJournal around 3:00 Pacific time yesterday? It kept giving me hassles - pages not coming up, not being able to post much, all that crap, like when the servers are bogged down.

time off

I took the afternoon off yesterday to get some things done. I wanted to get some work done outside, and I'm never around enough on the weekend. I kept Sunday open for that, but it rained. And I'm going camping this weekend. I knew the weather would be nice, so I took half a vacation day. This was the first time this year it was above 70°, and possibly the first time this year it was above 60°.

So I:
got my car worked on
walked over to Subway for a sandwich and read the paper
walked up to a store to pick up some things I'd ordered
stopped by a friend's, who I seldom see, and said hi
walked home
cleaned out the winter garbage from my flower beds
did a load of laundry
fixed my bed
mostly packed for camping
went shopping for the food
talked on the phone with another friend who I seldom talk with

The only things I didn't get done, that I needed to were the dishes and finishing packing. That's just because I was on the phone for over an hour.

stupid question of the month

"There's no iron in stainless steel, is there?"

I'm sure that many of you reading this won't think that is a stupid question, but the person who asked it is an engineer.

That's right up there with, "are there hydrocarbons in oil?"
