There is a lot going on in Milwaukee this weekend, all at the lakefront. I posted on Fb:
The Air and Water Show is happening, with the Thunderbirds performing Saturday and Sunday. Viewing from Bradford and McKinley beaches. There's the Milwaukee Brewfest at McKinley Park on Saturday. The Harley-Davidson Homecoming is just south of there at Veteran's Park. Performances by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jelly Roll, The Offspring, Hardy, Cypress Hill, etc. Then there's Germanfest at the Maier Festival Grounds. And if you need more, Carlos Santana and the Black Crowes are at the amphitheater on Friday, and Alanis Morrisette is there on Sunday with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.
I don't know about you, but I'm not going anywhere near the lakefront!

Now the last line just kind of a punchline. I had to end up the post somehow. But Cindy replied, "Weren't you complaining lately that you don't go out often enough with your camera? Milwaukee is ripe for some street photography!" And another photographer friend said, "You mean photos every where." So I had to go. In actuality, I wasn't worried about the crowds. If I go downtown, I park at work, one block from the freeway, and walk the 15 minutes to the lakefront. So I did that.

I was hoping to see some interesting people or some interesting scenes with people, but all the people were just walking east to the lakefront. I got a couple of shots near the art museum, and then decided to go in, since I was there and it's free (we're members).

Behind the art museum, we could see the airshow, and Harleyfest was right next door. All the people there were either watching the show, or waiting in line to get into the fest. Pretty boring.

So I walked north toward the airshow. I hadn't realized how far away it was, so I decided to turn in at Brady Street, and go west. Brady wasn't as interesting as I had hoped. Or maybe I was just tired and not seeing the shots. I think I took one, of an old sign. I made my way to Water Street.

The Cherry Street Bridge is closed for renovation.

I stopped at a brewery and had a root beer. I figured I needed rehydration so I skipped an actual beer. Probably would have been better off with a beer and a water, though. Then I stopped in another art museum. Then went on down to the Third Ward. Didn't take a single photo, so I hurried back to my parking garage after the Thunderbirds started flying over.

Got a few shots of them, then came home. Halfway through the hike, I guessed I was doing five miles. Later, I downgraded it to "four to five." Turns out it was 5.25 miles. It was only 80° and sunny, but with all that walking I was pretty dehydrated. I've been drinking water all evening.

The friend who said there were photos everywhere was at the airshow, and it took him an hour to get out of downtown after the show ended.

I fight to drink enough to be properly hydrated. When I am I feel SO much better.
