On Saturday, we stopped by the historic Forest Home Cemetery to check out their natural burial area, Prairie Home. Forest Home is a who's who of Milwaukee history. From the beer barons and other captains of industry to most of the mayors of the city.

This angel has suffered a crack in her neck and a big hole behind her ear.

It sure was a beautiful day for a walk in the park.

Wow! I love the "sculpted" trees, flowers and hearts. It almost looks like concrete the way it has weathered. It looks like the Bunsen stone has sunk some, or they have added dirt to the grave over the centuries.

Things tend to sink into the soil. However, see picture 8 at the link. The soil level seems to have dropped around that big one.

The hearts on that one are actually leaves. :-) I got a kick out of Bertha having an exclamation point behind her name.

I wondered if that is what that was behind her name.

I saw that you called them leaves over at the mourning souls entry - and that one that looks like someone tried to crawl out of the ground under the monument.
