My phone locked and had to be wiped. Lost most of my contacts. Can't remember all the apps I used to have, and can't get half the rest to work. Can't remember all the settings I used to have. Why isn't there a percentage number showing on the battery indicator? My weather app is telling me I need to enable location services, but they *are* enabled. Now it's looking for my last known location. My damn phone doesn't even know where I've been. I thought these things were supposed to be smart!

When we dreamed of the future and its bright promise of advancing technology, we forgot how problematic new technology can be. And didn't dream of how quickly it would be outdated - it's *always* new technology!

The guy on tech support said I'd had the phone for quite a while. Less than two years. So I guess two-year contracts are long-term.

That happens if you leave the future to a few handpicked corporations. (They're going to play monopoly on the back of the customer.)

Quite a while indeed! *Phaw!* That salesman was just trying to make money. Did you see the solution someone on Facebook had for you?

Yeah, but the apps are annoying too.

He wasn't a salesman, he just commented. I saw him as a kid for whom two years with a device is an eternity.

No, I won't be back at fb until later tonight.

If your phone goes dead it gets wiped out???

Since I don't buy smart phones, I am not smart enough to use them *snort* I don't have apps, but about three phones back I started a written list of my contacts to reenter when I get new phones. This one I think automatically saves to the card, but I could be mistaken about that.

No, it locked up somehow. It was almost dead, and maybe I tried opening it up at the same moment I plugged it in, or who knows what happened. I had to pull the battery out to get it to unlock (had done that before), but when I charged it up and tried to restart it, it went into a boot loop. The startup animations showed - over and over.

First tech support had me do a (I forget what it was called... ) hard boot. That didn't work, so then it was basically a system restore.

I had some info that was kept, like my photos.

Oh man! The loss of photos is big. :(

The photos were probably the one thing I didn't care of I lost, because I often download them to my computer. I'd rather have had the contacts retained. But I won't complain. :-)

I know it is a lot of initial work, but my contact list .. list has helped me several times to restore my phone.
