On May 17th, I was up bright and early (for me) for the trip back around Grand Staircase. There are no highways through it, so I went all the way back the way I came. I ended up passing the motel I stayed at for the first three nights of my trip. But first I stopped to get my tire replaced. Then, since I was near the entrance to the park, I spent some more time at Bryce Canyon. (Here's the original post of the day.)

The weather was colder, but with less rain. I had already seen the northern end of the park, so I decided to go all the way to the southern end of the road, at the highest elevation, and see what was there.

3D.

I dind't have as much time to spend, this visit, so I didn't do any hiking. Just the roadside vistas.

I thought this sign was kinda funny.

This was Red Canyon in Dixie National Forest. They've got hiking biking and horse trails. It looked like a pleasant area.

I passed this old sign in Orderville, going south toward Mt. Carmel Junction.

These were the first stoplights I had seen since I left St. George five days before. This was Kanab.

The motel in Kanab. I stopped here to check in before continuing east.

After having seen the Grand Canyon, the force of wind and water erosion amazes me. The rock formations are fantastic. Red Canyon is the same color as Sedona.

The motel room looks cozy.
:)

The room was certainly cozier than Bryce Canyon. ;-)
