I spent a couple more hours cleaning the basement. Previously, when cleaning, all the stuff I didn't know what to do with, got pushed to the back of the basement. Either the workroom, or the area at the back of the workroom. That's where I started, this time. So some things are getting pushed towards the middle. But maybe there will be enough new space in the back, that I can make real homes for the stuff.

Now that I got rid of the obvious garbage from that area, I made a second pass, and am seeing things I either didn't see the first time through, or didn't register as garbage. That's part of the problem - I just get used to seeing it, so it doesn't get sorted.

I'm collecting the decent stuff, in hopes that it can go to a good home. It's all hardware kinds of stuff, though, so I'm not sure who'd be interested in it. Cheap stuff, too, so...

Still finding "cool" stuff. I found my mortar tube (as in military hardware). Waterproof, but metal, and heavy. It had maps in it. Another light fixture, too cool to throw away. Antique stuff, kinda cool, but not very cool. A couple of old jacks. A gummed up vent grate. What do I do with this stuff? I guess I'll have to have a poll or something.

MAKE LAWN ORNAMENTS OUT OF IT! OR OUTDOOR FURNITURE... or mobiles to hang from the trees.

I have a wind chime made out of the copper pipe that we replaced in our first house. Old jacks as legs to a bench would be fun. An old light fixture (bowl type) turned upside down would make a cute bird bath or feeder. The possibilities of junk are ENDLESS.

That is the problem with it. Recycling junk is FUN... finding the time to follow through is not. That is why there are piano parts in my garage!

Lawn ornaments: Yes. I found another box of rocks. Some of them will go outside. And some stainless steel stuff goes out to the gardens.

Outdoor furniture, mobiles, wind chimes, pianos: Yes, this is why there is so much crap in my basement - All the projects I pictured doing. :-)

Copper pipe: I have a bucket or two of copper, and a bucket of brass, that I've been meaning to cash in... for years.

Good idea about the birdbath. Unfotunately, of all the light fixtures and glass I had, none were that style.

I have blue bottles on the tops of stake teepees in my rose garden, but always thought that copper stakes with a blue bottle upended on each one would make a GREAT "line" in a garden.

STAINLESS would be so awesome in a garden. I have a few "rocks" in the garden that I really appreciate. One is a "tower" of sandstone with rows of fossil arthropods in it, and the other is a piece of brain coral that the ex brought back from Guantanamo when he was a guard there. Those are probably the only two outside rocks that go with me when I move.

Rocks rock...

Can you take a picture of your stainless pieces so we can picture possibilities?
