For reasons nobody has been able to fathom (unless they've actually tasted ouzo), the Greeks drink more Scotch per capita than anyone else. Equally surprising, the French buy more whisky in a month than Cognac in a year. France remains the largest importer in volume terms, but higher margins make Spain's market more lucrative. Last year it was the world's top market for Scotch in value terms with sales worth $460 million.

Nice timing. Ellen got me a bottle of Glenlivet for Valentine's Day, and I've been enjoying it.

Apparently, Scotch is also enjoyed by many Indians, as it's come up a few times in the past with Indian co-workers (though they were not really knowledgeable about single malt too much).

Glenlivet's good. I went to a tasting (http://low-delta.livejournal.com/1258994.html), a few weeks ago. Bought a bottle of the French Oak 15yr. What do you have?

Oh, and The Glenlivet brand is the biggest selling malt whisky in the United States and the second biggest selling single malt brand globally. They make nearly six million liters of whiskey a year, and most of it is sold as single malt.

I like Scotch. Sometimes I drink it just "on the rocks." Good stuff. My favorite is Glenlivet.

I don't think I've ever had any. I have had aquavit - the Danish equivalent. That's pretty bad too.
