Many people are talking about what a great pilot Captain Sullenberger is for landing that jet safely in the water. "Consummate professional" and all that. Others say things like "God was watching out for us."

So which was it?

The god inside of the pilot was watching out for them. And himself. Which is a very good thing, of course. "For the good of all" goes a long way.

I haven't yet heard what got them into that pickle to begin with. ::Goes off to search::

Someone flew the plane into a flock of geese.

If god was responsible.. would the geese have been in the way?

I would like to think not.

A ha ha ha, I think you know the answer already...... right?

(God was the copilot)

I sense that that phrase needs reworking so that God is in the pilot's seat, but that would give up self-determination. Perhaps there's a marketing crew working on it as I type.

You know... I've been thinking about his actual co-pilot, and why no fuss is including him.

God is in the pilot's seat

I've heard that one, more or less. Some people are quite happy to give that up. But this means they're just acting the way they think God wants them to. And since they want to act this way, they're not really giving anything up.

I would think the pilot is in charge, and gives the orders to the others. From the article, it sounds like this guy is quite capable of taking control in such a crisis. But unless they totally failed at their jobs, I'd say they deserve at least a little bit of credit. We'll have to wait and see what he has to say about it, I guess.

God hates geese?

I really hate it when a persons skill and talent is minimized and the credit is given to "god". People gave credit to "god" for saving my arm when I was in my accident. No. It was the doctors skill that gave me the arm to work with and it was my hard work that made it work. Some people even told me that "god" was trying to tell me something with the accident! After one guy said "god" was trying to get my attention, I told him that all "he" had to do was tap me on the shoulder. He didn't have to rip my arm off!

The worst is when a tornado levels someone's town, but they survive say that God was looking out for them. WTF? He was looking out for you, but hated your house? And your neighbors?

I'm with a lot of other people in saying that I sure would want him to be the pilot when I fly anywhere!

Ha!

Right! Well, apparently god is really picky about who he favors because according to a lot of sports figures he is the reason they win too. The other team was obviously out of control with their sinning.

Wot and who is GOD?

I vote for "he is a pilot's pilot." He flies gliders as his hobby and just flew the Scarebus 320 like a big freakin' glider. This isn't the first time a pilot/glider hobyist has done amazing things that most pilots wouldn't have the imagination and presence of mind to do (flying without power).

And this guy gave lectures about airline safety.
