Why don't our elected officials recognize this?

they do, but they just don't care.

it is business, that pay for these guys to get in office. then pays to keep them there.

buisnesses might contribute funds to polititians.....but it's the people who do the voting.....and there are too many apathetic people out there....who just don't take the time to look into issues or polititians that they are voting for.......they actually believe advertisements....

I think it is a combination of both. But the bigger factor is that almost all of the politicians have that attitude towards big business, so the people have little choice. And even if they did, there are many more important issues.

i personally would vote for an honest person who i don't agree with politically instead of a person who is generally dishonest and who's first priority is to be re-elected.
