Kilauea Lighthouse

Nearby is the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge, home to a diverse population of nesting seabirds. You can see some white specks in the air around the peninsula, which are the birds.

The door was open, but you couldn't go up the stairs. The lens weighs four tons. Originally, it floated on a circular (nine-inch-deep, six foot diameter) trough of mercury, for its swivel. It was hand polished in France, where it was built for $12,000.

I've enjoyed revisiting Kauai with you and Cyn .. I think I might even have that same picture of the lighthouse from my travels .. very cool :)
