the eclipse
Apr. 9th, 2024 11:30 pmWe had perfectly clear skies here. It didn't occur to me to get the eclipse glasses until it was too late. That would have been cool. But we did the pinhole thing. Cindy sat outside with a colander. We didn't realize until the maximum coverage that you had to move the colander away from the surface it was projecting on, to see the crescent shape. I'm just glad we figured it out then. The whole time I was like, why is the image still round, when things are clearly getting dimmer? The best image was through an actual pin hole.
I tried taking photos with my camera. I couldn't stop it down enough. I then tried it through sunglasses and I could kinda make out a vague crescent shape.
We had nearly 90% of totality. That was still pretty bright.
I'm disappointed I didn't get to experience a total eclipse. It sounds so interesting and unique. The sky goes dark, sunset appears all the way around on the horizon. The breeze is cool. Animals react. It just seems so wild.
