Smithsonian Air and Space Museum
Feb. 17th, 2024 01:19 pmThat Thursday morning I left the hotel, with some difficulty (they hadn't told me to keep my room key on checkout, since I would need it to exit the parking garage), and I went downtown. Got some food and went over to the National Portrait Gallery, with a stop at the Leica store.
I'm not a huge fan of portraiture since it's more about the subject than the artist, but there were a few interesting ones (the Obamas, for example), but also art that was not portraiture, including modern art. They had an interesting exhibition of a couple of projects by Carrie Mae Weems, and an exhibit on Frederick Douglass.
Then I went down to the Mall and the Air and Space Museum.

This room is impressive, but it's tough getting a good photo. The walls and ceiling are grey, and most of the planes are either grey or reflective.
