finger, why cut?
May. 11th, 2023 11:12 pmIt took me the longest time to figure out why my pinkie finger kept getting cut. Not all the time, at least once a month, sometimes more.

Often the cuts barely broke the skin. Sometimes not even all the way through. Recently, it had several cuts at the same time, none of them through, but one had a big flap of skin over it. This had been going on for a couple of years. The winter before last I thought it might have been from the handles of plastic jugs, but I kept getting them when we had no jugs. I'd always notice in the morning, in the shower, when the water hit them. I went over everything in the bathroom, looking for sharp edges. Nothing. That meant it was likely the night before. I went over everything I could think of. Still nothing.
But I finally figured it out last week. It's the refrigerator door!

The fridge that neither of us much cares for, has been injuring me. One of the things I don't prefer is that it has no door handle. There's just a slot in the side that you stick your fingers into. But I'm right handed, so instead of twisting my hand around I just kinda wrap my fingers around the corner of the door. Mainly the pinkie and ring fingers. See the corner edges, top of the lower door, and bottom of the upper door? They are sharp metal. The upper one is very sharp. I filed and sanded them smoother, so hopefully everything will be fine now.
