I spent the last three saturday afternoons restacking firewood. First, I need to make room for incoming wood, since I'm getting a couple more trees. Second, I just wanted to organize it. Third, I thought of a way to cover it.
I had a couple of 4x8 sheets of half-inch OSB. I realized I could lay them over the top of the stacks. I cut holes near the edges to drop them over the fenceposts at the ends of the stacks, to keep them in place. Fortunately, the stacks were about the right length for this. I figured I'd probably only get about three years out of the OSB before it disintegrated, so I decided I'd paint them. It was sunny today, and around 40°F, so I could actually paint them out there.
I have two 15-foot rows under them. There's one more half-row behind, that's half covered. That one also has a half-shredded tarp. Beyond that there's a pile of sticks and other potential kindling. Beyond that there's another half a row of firewood, that's sorta covered with a small piece of OSB.
