survey answers
Mar. 12th, 2019 10:10 pmHere are some questions from a survey meme that's been going around. I left out the dumb ones, or the ones I had no answers for. I know they're just supposed to be writing prompts, and I could go whatever direction I chose, but I tend to take the questions fairly literally.
Jan 1: Would you rather relive the last 365 days or lose a year of your life?
I can't imagine a great enough time that I'd want to relive it. Learning and doing are the best things, so why would I want to learn something twice? And how do I put into practice what I've learned?
2. What is your most mundane encounter with a celebrity? I haven't met many celebrities. I "met" Tony Levin. Hung around after the show and exchanged a few words with him with a crowd of other people doing the same.
5. Have you ever had an epiphany? I know some important things, but I can't say as any of them have ever come to me suddenly. In fact, I can hardly list those important things I've absorbed, so I really can't call them epiphanies.
6. What is your favourite keyboard shortcut? I set one up in Excel to freeze the top row and apply the filter to everything. Ctrl+k. I use it on 90% of my spreadsheets. Then Ctrl+c, Ctrl+v - I use them all the time. Also b, i, y and occasionally z. And a whole slew of them in Photoshop: Ctrl + a, b, c, f, u, v, 0, 1, s, ,, i, m; Ctrl + alt + c, r, z; Ctrl + alt + shift + s; Ctrl + shift + z. Photoshop also has a lot of single-key shortcuts: s, b, v, m...
7. If you were guaranteed that you would be unkillable, indestructible and uninjurable for the next ten years, but you would die once the decade was up, would you go for it?
I would feel obligated to be a superhero, so no.
8. When you are watching films do you Google the actors to find out if they are still alive and/or what else they have been in?
Yes
9. Have you ever been in a canoe?
I was a Boy Scout, so yes.
12. What subject were you worse at at school?
I was never any good at math. Except geometry, because that was visual and not abstract.
13. Is there something you once abhorred that you now adore?
Not really. My tastes don't change that much. There are things I'm good with now that I didn't used to like. But I either didn't abhor them then, don't adore them now, or both. I just don't do extremes.
20. Have you ever been in a police car?
I was with my friend once, when a parking lot plow driver hit his dad's van. The police were called, and while my friend was waiting to give his details, the officer asked if he wanted to wait in the police car. It was cold out so he said sure. And I went with him. Well, the backs of police cars are very cramped, and I'm kinda tall. And the guy let us sit in there a very long time before he came to let us out, because you can't get out of the back of a police car on your own. We were both unhappy about the choice made to get in the car.
28. Would you prefer to eat nothing but chocolate or be able to read people's minds?
Setting aside the logistics of the chocolate portion of this question, I'd be OK with reading people's minds. I'm always wanting to learn more about people and what makes them tick. A lot of people say they wouldn't want to know who hates them, but I think I'd get used to it. My only caveat is that people wouldn't know I could read their minds.
31. If you could click your fingers and be anywhere in the world right now where would you go? Yes you can get home again with another click.
Hmm. I ought to have an answer for this. Tough pick. I guess I'd pick Scotland because that's where I most want to go right now. But if I was being more practical, I'd pick someplace that's harder to get to. Oh, some remote island off the coast of Scotland.
