getting together... or not

Last Sunday, a friend suggested we get together that afternoon. I'd just gotten back from Michigan, so I declined. He suggested Monday, but I had plans. I suggested any other night. He suggested Tuesday, but by that time, I had made plans. We agreed on Friday. A few days later, he said he learned he and his wife had dinner plans, so he suggested later in the evening. Tonight, at dinner time, he texted me that he'd just learned that their dinner plans involved him and his wife hosting at their own house. I told him that I was still available late, if his guests happened to leave early enough. He texted me around 10:00 to say that his guests were still there, and we should try for next week.

It looks like I have maybe three nights free to choose from.
