Oct. 4th, 2015 10:06 pmFriday morning we drove to Indiana for Lynda's and Mike's wedding. We spent part of the afternoon with them, and then got ready and went to the courthouse. There were about 20 of us there for the brief ceremony. Then we all went to a restaurant for a nice dinner. It was a fun and emotional day.
We stayed at their house for the night, and in fact had it planned before they decided to get married. We were up and out early, to meet Cyn's cousin Pam, in Michigan. Pam works for an online gardening retailer, and she had arranged a greenhouse tour for us. One of the partners of her company also runs a business that grows succulents for wholesale. I was impressed by his operation. Not only propagation but breeding. He's big on hen&chicks, and a few other types of succulents, and also hellebores. So that was pretty cool. Then we went to Cyn's aunt's apartment and watched some old family videos. Then dinner, and back to Pam's house, were we hung out with her and her husband for the rest of their night.
They made a big breakfast for us, and we headed out midmorning. We stopped in Holland, at the New Holland Brewing store, looking for some whisky. Didn't find it. Farther south, we stopped at Journeyman Distilling, and had lunch. And I bought some whisky. Another three hours, and we were home.
But the food! My god, that was a lot of food. We snacked on the way down on Friday, since we were arriving a little after lunchtime. But Lynda was hungry so we went out for lunch. I stuffed myself with chicken maccaroni and cheese, and only finished half of it. After that late lunch, we had an early dinner, with which I also stuffed myself... before a heavy chocolate dessert. I skipped breakfast, and was not very hungry by lunchtime, but I ate a sandwich anyway. Then a big burger for supper. A huge breakfast today (blueberry pancakes, bacon, fruit salad, coffeecake), and pizza for lunch. I just finished a yogurt as my dinner. At least I was able to skip a couple of meals!
