facebook follies
Jun. 25th, 2014 10:58 pmA friend shared a graphic by the Tea Party, with a picture of a box of Crackerjack. The captions said "White Americans find this name offensive. If it's good enough for the Washington Redskins, Is it also time for Obama's patent office to CANCEL Cracker Jack's trademark as well, right?"
I said, "this is the stupidest thing you've posted in months."
His reply, "Yep and it follows the stupid things that people do in the name of political correctness."
Me... breathe... Pause... Eventually...
"So you posted that in seriousness? You think the requests by certain ethnic groups for others to not portray them as caricatures is PC? And they're told, "oh lighten up, it's a joke." "You think my culture is a joke?" And you think those requests are not only unnecessary political correctness, but stupidity? And not just regular stupidity, but as stupid as the made-up shit in this picture? That's fucked up. Really fucked up. To be honest, it disgusts me that my friends believe this shit. I like to think I have smart friends, but you're challenging me."
He liked that comment.
