Day 3, my dad were in Dumfries, in the south of Scotland. We were looking for places related to Robert Burns. St. Michaels's churchyard held his mausoleum. The old European cemeteries are really interesting. This was the stereotypical jumble of markers and monuments.

Said mausoleum of, and monument to Poet Robert Burns.

To the memory of Clementina, the wife of William McCraken writer in Dumfries; who died the 12th day of July 1785, at the age of 30 years. She was near two years a wife, had two sons, William and James: The younger predeceased her 32 days: The elder survived her 22 hours and was buried with her.

These are only four of the two dozen or so photos. You can see the rest at Mourning Souls.

After leaving Abbotsford (way before reaching the cemetery in Dumfries, which I posted earlier today), we drove southwest, towards Moffat and then Dumfries. Along the way, we stopped at Grey Mare's Tail, the fourth highest waterfalls in the UK.

This is St. Mary's Loch.
