neighbor

I discovered in the paper that our neighbor died. A week ago Thursday, after a car accident. He was 90, and pretty frail, so I don't think he had the stamina to recover from an accident. I've only spoken with him a few times, in the seven years we've lived here. He seemed like a good guy. We just don't talk to the neighbors more than about once a year, and it was usually with his wife. And often, when he was out, he didn't wear his hearing aid, so there was no talking to be done anyway. I wondered if something was up, since their son's car has been in the driveway all week, like he moved in.

Claude fought at the Battle of the Bulge. He was married when he was 28, and was just short of their 62 anniversary, which would have been today (yesterday). He apparently retired 25 years ago.
