power consumption
Jan. 16th, 2011 03:55 pmI checked my computer and monitor a while back, and they use an average of 170 watts of electricity. Less, if it's idle, more if it's really crunching. I just checked my CRT, and it runs 60 to 80 watts, depending on how many pixels are lit up. Cyn's LCD screen uses 30 watts at all times.
My computer uses around four watts when it's off. The monitor is responsible for about half that, however, I'm not sure how accurate my meter is at low power. Cyn's monitor uses zero watts when it's powered down.
My clock radio uses four watts when it's not playing music.
