Scotch tasting
Jan. 11th, 2011 09:47 pmMy Scotch tasting group, with Mike, is growing. Two people didn't show up, and there were two new people, so we had ten in attendance. People paired up, for the most part, and chipped in together for a bottle, so we had six different Scotches.
Chivas Regal 18yr Blend
The Balvenie Doublewood (12yr sherry finish, Speyside)
The Balvenie Rum Cask (17yr, rum finish, Speyside)
Bunnahabhain 12yr (sherry finish, Islay)
Bruichladdich Links - Valhalla (15yr, sweet wine finish, Islay)
Lagavulin Distillers Edition (16yr, sherry finish, Islay)
The Chivas wasn't bad. Doublewood, good. Everything else was excellent. Most people were partial to the Rum cask. My favorite (aside from the Lagavulin) was the 'laddie Links. Everything but the Chivas had some kind of sweet finish. Most of these were expensive bottles. All but the Doublewood and Bunna were $80, $100 or $120. Them there's some fine licker!
