being gay is not a choice
Oct. 6th, 2010 10:02 pmWhy would someone choose something that may lead to the loss of all his friends? Or being disowned by his family? Or that would pose a risk to continued employment?
Why would he choose something that could get him beaten - or killed?
Why would he choose a lifestyle that he was so ashamed of that he'd kill himself if it were discovered?
There are two kinds of anti-gay people. People who hate teh gay because it's icky, and people who believe that God said it's sinful behavior. The first kind bothers me more, because those people want everyone to behave according to their own likes and dislikes. For example, they're opposed to gay marriage just because they don't like teh gay. They are usually conservatives who will tell you that people's rights shouldn't be trampled on by the government. Sorry, you can't have it both ways.
I believe that two consenting adults should be allowed to do just about anything they want with each other, as long as it doesn't interfere with other people's freedoms.
