Our cameras use rechargeable battery packs. Batteries last a lot longer if you use them til they're dead, and then recharge them. So always have two. When one is dead, pop in the new one, and put the dead one on the charger. Otherwise, you're going to put one that's only half dead in your charger, just to make sure it doesn't go dead when you need it. Anyway...

I keep forgetting to take the extra battery packs along. I took the little camera to Summerfest and the Rush concert, a while back, and it went dead about halfway through the evening. I can't remember if I forgot to bring the battery, or if I decided that it wasn't going to run out. This weekend, when we went to Indiana, I intended to bring the extra battery for the big camera, but forgot it. It ran out at the end of saturday's boat ride. I brought the extra for the little camera along on the trip, but forgot it when we went out for an excursion on sunday morning. Missed a couple of good shots.

After we got home, I was cleaning out my suitcase, and found the battery for the big camera. It had been in there (fully charged) since the last trip. I wonder if I should make a little carrying case for them, and attach them to the cameras themselves.
