HP printer

I figured HP was a pretty good name for printers. I'm not extremely pleased with this one. Print quality seems good, but the technical aspect needs work. It's an HP Photosmart C6380 All-in-One. They run about $200, but we got it for a lot less than that.

First of all, when it powers up, I have to tell it to find the network (unlike the laptop), and enter the password. There's no keyboard, of course, so I have to arrow around a chart of letters. And that's after clicking through a few menu choices. Pain. in. the. ass.

Second, every time it prints a page that's not in the same batch as the previous, it goes through that print head alignment routine, or whatever the hell it's doing.

Tonight, I was using it as a copier. I had twelve pages, and I needed two of each. It didn't remember my choices, so I had to click through the menu and change the number of copies to 2 every time. You'd think that if I told it I wanted two copies, it would scan the page and print two of them. No. It scans and prints, then scans again and prints. Why? I suppose I should be happy that it actually printed two copies.

Are other printer/scanners like this?
