Yesterday, we went down to Chicago to see Vocalista, her husband, Halfmoon Mollie, and Mummm and her husband. It was a very nice day. We got down there early, so spent a few minutes in Milennium Park.
At noon, we went to the Art Institute. You can't really see the place in just three hours. Cyn and I spent a lot of time in the Asian area. They had Chinese artifacts dating to earlier than ten centuries B.C. We also took a run down to the American section and saw the prominently displayed American Gothic and Nighthawks. I had never seen American Gothic up really close. Interesting colors and brushwork.
Then we took an architectural tour on the river. It went pretty much everywhere on the rivers, north, south, east and west. It was pretty interesting. It was an hour and a half, and the docent talked pretty much nonstop.
Dinner was at Gino's, for some deep dish pizza. Afterwards, we said our good byes, and Cyn and I walked back to Milennium Park, under which we had parked. Though it had been cloud for our boat tour, the sky turned to gold in the sunset. The tops of the buildings glowed. Then, when we got to the park, the sky was all pink, and it was reflected in Cloud Gate, along with the skyline. The weather was perfect - calm and warm. We walked around the park for a while before heading back to the car.
