Damn, I'm cold.
People have asked me how long it's been since it's been this short. The short answer is never. Even when I was a kid, I always had bangs. Not having bangs has something to do with not having a hairline near my forehead, but still... The hair on top is not long enough to comb down. And I never had it buzzed, like it is in back.
I had a couple of people tell me that if I'd shaved the beard, people probably wouldn't have recognized me. I think that would have been a more radical change to my look. I really don't want to shave my beard, though. It wouldn't grow back fast enough, either.
So far, I only heard one compliment that really sounded like, "wow that looks so much better than your old style!" I had to laugh - she said how much more professional I look. I look like I could be an engineer or a teacher or something. Um, thanks, I guess.
My boss kept saying, "wow!" over and over. He had to take a picture to send to his wife. My boss's boss had to stop and catch his breath. I wonder if he remembers the first time he saw me, when it wasn't styled at all, but shaggy. I used to only brush it once a week.
I had the long hair for what seems like forever, but it was really only half my life. So now I'm going through the past, wondering who knew me before my hair was long. Just family, and my friends from high school. I work with a guy whom I first met in tech school, just after high school. That was before I grew my beard, but after I started growing my hair long.
I can't wait until the back grows out again.
