My dad just got a job working at one of the small-town libraries around here. For his application, he included a picture of himself with all his grandchildren. That was his list of references. He's pretty sure that's what got him the job. He said there were quite a lot of applicants. When he was there, he got several comments on how much everybody loved the picture.

This bug was in my garage. It's a katydid. Not the biggest one I've seen.

It's been very damp for the last couple of weeks. I noticed today, that it's more clear than it has been. The humidity dropped below 50%. The haze has lifted. I went out a little while ago. The sky is so clear. The crescent moon had set, so there were a lot of stars visible. All those little stars in between the constellations. I saw a satellite go over. And a jet that was so high I could barely hear it. And I could barely make out the Milky Way.

I know, some of you are, like, that's all you can see? Well that's the way it is around here. We're close enough to inhabited areas, that we can seldom see the Milky Way. But then we don't have to go far to get a better view, either.
