I just spent three hours downloading mp3s from an mp3 player. It's about ten gig of music. Now I've got to organize it. =8-0

I keep seeing words that people misspell, not due to typos, but because they don't know what the words really are. I'd like to fill them in, but I don't want to embarrass them. They shouldn't be embarrassed, because they're words that aren't commonly seen in print, or at least often enough to be compared to what we hear.

Words like "pique." Have you ever had your interest peaked? No, you haven't. Piqued maybe. "Pique" is an interesting word to me, because as far as I can tell, it's only ever used in two contexts. To pique your interest or curiosity, and, rarely, "a fit of pique."

How about people who pour over a newspaper or a book? I always feel like asking them what they are pouring. It's "pore." I don't really know why, though.

One word that I didn't learn for a long time was "rapport." Like, building a rapport with someone. In my mind, I was never sure how to spell it, but it was definitely different. So different, that when I saw "rapport" in print, I didn't connect it. I though "rapport" (pronounced phonetically) was something else.

So that's the sort of thing I saw in journals today. Except in one case may have been humorously intended. *shrug*
