Cyn and I went out to eat for my birthday tonight. We went to my favorite restaurant, Jerry's Old Town, for my favorite ribs. It was a little disapointing. They changed owners in the last year or two, and the food is just a little bit different. The sauce was less tangy and more vinegary. The french onion soup, which used to have a lot of onion and bread in it, with cheese, was mostly cheese.
Cyn gave me three CD's. William Shatner's Has Been. I'd heard the opening track, "Common People," before, and it's pretty good. The rest of the album doesn't quite match it, but is still quite amusing, on various levels. I also got the DVD-Audio versions of Yes's Fragile, and ELP's Brain Salad Surgery. I haven't had a chance to listen to the latter, but Fragile sounds beautiful. For the DVD-audio versions, they've remixed the original records, and put in on a DVD instead of a CD. There is room for so much more data on a DVD, so the sound is much richer. And there is a great deal of definition, since it's in 5.1 Surround. There's also video on the ELP disc. Unfortunately, I don't think I can hear the recordings in their full glory. I've got to check into the technicals.
